Emmanuel Effiong is a seasoned professional in Public Policy, Government Relations, Corporate Governance, and Regulatory Affairs, with a strong commitment to shaping strategic solutions for national development and economic transformation in Nigeria and Africa. He presently leads the Public Policy and Government Relations Advisory practice at ACIOE Associates, where he brings a wealth of experience in advising on regulatory frameworks, corporate governance standards, and public-private sector engagement. Emmanuel is adept at crafting and implementing policy strategies that align with business goals while navigating complex regulatory environments, ensuring sustainable growth for both private sector enterprises and government entities.
His expertise lies in analyzing the interplay between policy development and implementation, particularly its impact on the private sector, economic growth, and societal outcomes. He excels in employing both quantitative and qualitative approaches to assess public policy impacts, providing a holistic view of how government policies shape the micro and macroeconomic landscape in emerging and frontier markets. Emmanuel holds a first-class bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering from Madonna University, Nigeria, where he graduated as a valedictorian. He furthered his education with a Master’s degree from Southwest Jiaotong University, China. His professional credentials include a certification in Public Policy Analysis from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a specialization in Public Policy Management through the Young Africa Leadership Initiative (YALI). His academic journey expanded his understanding of how public policy drives national progress, fueling his interest in policy and trade, which led to a pivotal role as the manager of the International Trade division of Chengdu Junda Technology Company, China. There, he designed and executed strategies for market entry into sub-Saharan Africa, effectively blending his technical background with strategic trade and investment facilitation. Upon his return to Nigeria, Emmanuel leveraged his global expertise in public policy, trade facilitation, and regulatory affairs to contribute to national and continental development. He has been instrumental in advising on trade and investment policies, regulatory reforms, and governance strategies that promote sustainable economic growth. An active thought leader in public policy advocacy, Emmanuel is a Fellow of the Africa Policy Conversations Think Tank and serves as Communications Lead for ConstitutionLab. He also convenes The Re-Awakening Nigeria, a non-partisan platform that engages Nigerian youth in nation-building efforts. His leadership has catalyzed policy dialogues and civic engagement initiatives, such as voter registration drives, that enhance youth participation in Nigeria's political process.
In addition to his policy and governance work, Emmanuel serves on the Board of Trustees for the Apo Settlers’ Basketball Foundation, which uses sports as a tool for community development and youth empowerment. His multifaceted involvement in public policy, corporate governance, and community service underscores his dedication to advancing equitable and sustainable development across Nigeria and Africa.
